We always recommend creating and sharing quality content online instead of relying on backlink trickery to increase your rankings and traffic.

But there is nothing tricky or unsavory about further distributing your content via RSS feeds and directories. Here's what Google says about RSS in general on their own RSS feed site Google Feedburner:

"Publisher Bottom Line: Feeds permit instant distribution of content and the ability to make it 'subscribable.'"

A Quick "What Is RSS?"

You probably already know what RSS is, but just to be clear as we move forward: RSS is the way to distribute a site's content. It's accessible via a specific URL or by clicking the familiar orange RSS button at right.

WordPress blogs have an RSS feed (righthandplanning.com/feed) and cnn.com has many RSS links organized by topic (cnn.com/services/rss/).

Two Reasons To Use RSS Submission Sites To Promote Your Content

You want to submit all the pages from your website or blog to RSS collection and distribution sites to make them available to people and sites looking for RSS feeds You've submitted your content elsewhere such as articles, video, PDF or Infographs and to other sharing sites such as Squidoo, HubPages, etc. and you want to convert the resulting links to RSS feed links in order to increase the visibility to search engines and visitors

How To Get A List Of All The Links From Your Website or Blog

If you are using WordPress, the RSS for your blog posts (only, not pages) is found at yoursite.com/feed. This is the RSS for your blog posts only, it will not include your site's Pages.

To get a list of all Posts and Pages from your WordPress site you have to have an XML sitemap creator plugin installed. Then the link to all your Pages and Posts will be yoursite.com/sitemap.xml. This will also work with any other type of site that uses an XML sitemap.

You'll only need to submit one of the above URLs - choose the.xml link to submit all your site's pages and blog posts, or use the yoursite.com/feed URL to submit only your blog posts.

Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo, HubPages and Tumblr also have RSS feeds containing lists of your submitted content as do content sharing sites such as EzineArticles. See their instructions for how to find the RSS feed for your content (be sure to find the RSS for your account specifically and not the RSS for the main site).

How To Remove Irrelevant Site Pages Before RSS Distribution

If you look at links in the yoursite.com/sitemap.xml options you'll see that it contains all the links on your site including pages such as About Us, Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions, etc.

If you don't want to include these pages in the RSS feed you'll be mass distributing then highlight all the links, paste them into a spreadsheet and delete the irrelevant links.

Then copy the remaining links and paste them into the RSS Holder site shown below to create one link to submit to the Bulk Ping RSS Submit page (not the BulkPing site!) discussed below.

Mass Distribute All Your Content Distribution Links Via RSS

In addition to submitting the RSS feeds of your website, blog and specific content sharing sites you can s and submitting them to RSS directories, you'll probably also want to do the same with your content distribution.

Although there are sites where you can convert one link at a time to an RSS style URL, this would be very time consuming to do a list of 30 article directory links where your content was just submitted, for example.

Creating Your First Podcast In 5 Easy Steps

If your new to podcasting, this article will explain the basics. In simple terms podcasting comes from two words, pod for iPod, and broadcasting. It's amazing what an everyday individual with a computer can do. Just like blogging, you can create a podcast about your favorite hobby, or interest.

1. There are 4 tools that you will need. A computer, a microphone, headset (optional), and recording software. You will need to record in mp3 format. A free recording software program that I would recommend is Audacity. If you have never used recording software before, there are tutorials on the Audacity website. You can also find tutorials at YouTube.

2. There is a learning curve, so experiment with a few trial runs. Record for a minute or two, and play it back. How does it sound? You don't need an expensive microphone to get a decent recording. What you don't want to hear is low volume, distortion, or background noises coming through. If there is a problem, make the necessary adjustments to your recording software. How comfortable were you behind the microphone? Did you freeze up? Listen to how many times you cough, or say "uh".

3. When recording your podcast, should you use a script? There are several schools of thought concerning a script. If your reading from a script it might sound boring. You need to be able to improvise. Instead of a script you might be more comfortable using an outline. Make a list of talking points, this will help keep your thoughts organized. But you don't want a bunch of "um" and "uhs" throughout your recording.

4. When recording your podcast, you will need to include a few elements. First, your podcast will need a nice introduction message. Briefly introduce yourself, or your company, and explain what the program will be about. Now your ready to record the body of your message. Finally, you will want to add a closing statement at the end of the program. You can inform your listeners when your going to release your next podcast, and what it will be about. If nothing else, you can just say a simple goodbye and thank them for listening.

5. You will also need some means of distributing your podcast. Now that you have saved your podcast to an mp3 file, simply upload it to your website. If you do not have a website, then you may want to consider starting one. The other alternative would be to submit your program to a free podcast hosting website. Just use your favorite search engine to find a "free podcast hosting" website.
